It was just brought to my attention that metribuzin is not labeled in Tennessee for pre applications in corn.  It is for most any given state just north of us but not in Tennessee. I over looked this one line in the label I reviewed.

Though metribuzin is not labeled for pre applications in corn, linuron is.  The blog posting with this mistake has been corrected with linuron substiuting for metribuzin. Herbicide Options For Corn That Will Be Double Cropped With Soybeans in 2013

There have been a number of calls from folks who are tentatively planning to double crop soybean behind their corn crop this year. Several farmers did this last year and were able to plant soybeans in July after the corn was harvested.  In several cases the double crop soybeans made in the 30 bushel range. The question I get from these folks is what herbicides can they use in corn and come back with soybeans in July? Cotton prices are mixed while corn, soybeans, and wheat prices are down for the week. Markets will be closed Monday, February 18 for President’s Day. The USDA supply & demand reports released on February 9 were mostly neutral to friendly but other data and information has tended to overshadow those reports. Continue reading

This month’s USDA report did not usher in any major corn surprises, but ending stocks were forecast higher than the average trade guess. Food, seed and industrial use was raised 20 million bushels as corn for sweeteners and starch increased. Offsetting that increase was a 50 million bushel decrease in exports. Continue reading
