The first report of soybean rust (SBR) in Arkansas was confirmed near Halley, AR (Desha Co.) on August 7th. This is the same county SBR was first detected in 2012. SBR has also been confirmed in Limestone Co., Alabama which neighbors Giles Co., Tennessee. Continue reading
On Aug. 2nd soybean rust (SBR) was detected in a soybean sentinel plot in DeKalb County, Alabama, in the northeast corner of the state. Less than 1% of the plants had visible symptoms. Continue reading
The rain that most of Tennessee has been receiving benefits not only soybeans but also soybean diseases and in particular, frogeye leaf spot. This disease has become more concerning with strains of the pathogen (Cercospora sojina) developing resistance to fungicides in the strobilurin (quinone outside inhibitor – QoI) fungicide group.
