Even the somewhat resolution of the fiscal cliff and an almost 4% uptick in the Dow this week could not prevent commodity prices from continuing the slide from late 2012. Continue reading

Cotton prices are up; soybeans mixed; with corn and wheat prices down for the week. The U.S. Dollar Index before the close was at 79.55, down 0.85 for the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded before the close at 13,135 down 20 points for the week. Crude Oil traded before the close at 86.76 a barrel, up 0.70 a barrel for the week. USDA released their December 11 report and was considered neutral to bullish for corn, cotton, and soybeans and bearish for wheat. Continue reading

In today’s report, no adjustments for the current marketing year of 2012/13 U.S. supply and demand numbers were made. The trade was expecting on the average a 16 million bushel increase in ending stocks. It is somewhat expected that harvested acreage will be reduced in the January 11, 2013 report. Continue reading

Soybean prices are up with corn, cotton, and wheat prices mixed for the week. The U.S. Dollar Index before the close was at 80.41, up 0.25 for the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded before the close at 13,132 up 106 points for the week. Crude Oil traded before the close at 86.06 a barrel, up 2.85 a barrel for the week. Continue reading
