The typical trial data release post on this blog contains little narrative. This post is not a typical one. In addition to providing the links to the 2025-2026 Tennessee Wheat Official Variety Trial Publication, I also recognize the efforts of both Dr. Dennis West and Mr. David R. Kincer for their combined 90+ years of service to Tennessee growers. Additionally, I briefly share the future plans for the program.
Unfortunately, Dr. Dennis West passed away earlier this spring. Mr. David R. Kincer, Research Associate located at the East Tennessee Research and Education Center in Knoxville, TN, carried the program in Dr. West’s absence through late spring and summer. Special thanks to Mr. Kincer compiling, analyzing, writing and completing this report. You can access the full report by clicking on the adjacent image. Please allow me to draw your attention to the ‘In Memoriam’ Mr. Kincer wrote on page two of this document recognizing Dr. West’s long career and contributions to Tennessee growers. Dr. West will be missed.
Additionally, Mr. Kincer has decided, after his 45 years of service, to retire later this month. I would like to congratulate him on his long and fruitful career and thank him for his commitment to the program as we look to the future.
This fall, I’ll be taking over the Tennessee Wheat Official Variety Trial Program with assistance from Mr. Matt Davis, Extension Specialist located here in Jackson. I am excited for the opportunity to lead this impactful program and intend to maintain the same rigorous levels of data quality and attention to detail that Dr. West and Mr. Kincer established.
If you have any questions concerning this report or the program, please do not hesitate to give me a call or shoot me an email.
