Once again, eligible soybean producers will have the opportunity to participate in the Tennessee Top Bean high yield contest. This contest is sponsored by the TN Soybean Promotion Board/Research council and coordinated by the University of Tennessee Extension. To participate, interested growers should coordinate with their county agent to submit an entry form (Entry form_2021 Top Bean Soybean Yield Contest) by Sept 3rd, and complete their contest paperwork by Dec 10th. A copy of the contest rules and other forms may be found at utcrops.com on the Soybean Production main page.
Producers may enter one irrigated and one non-irrigated field per producer/farm entity. Contest fields must be located in the state of Tennessee, and be at least 10 acres in size. A minimum of three continuous acres should be harvested for the contest. Awards will be made to district 1st and 2nd place winners in five yield districts, and district winners will compete for Top Bean dryland and irrigated state winner. Last year, Tennessee growers had good to excellent growing conditions and the Top Bean irrigated winner was Mr. Justin Woodall from Decherd (102.59 bu/A) and dryland winner was Mr. Josh Watson from Sweetwater (92.54 bu/A).
