No new reports of soybean rust in Tennessee from last week’s soybean sentinel plot samples. The sentinel plot in Giles County had soybean rust on 4 out of 57 leaves, all at very low levels (1% severity).
Most soybeans are past the growth stage of applying a fungicide and even those that may still be at R5 or earlier may not benefit from a fungicide application this late in the season. Feel free to contact your local county agent or myself if you have any questions about your specific situation and fungicide options.
Sentinel soybean leaves will continue to be examined from across middle and west Tennessee for soybean rust. Any positive observation will be reported here on news.utcrops.com, the sbrusa.net website, and the UT Rust Hot Line (1-877-875-2326).
