Corn planting is winding down. The post application timing for corn has now started. There have been a number of calls from folks who are concerned they will get poor weed control spraying this week with the cooler night time temperatures. Indeed several labels such as Halex GT have wording about slow activity under cold temperatures.
Though night time temps will be cold this week, it is warming up during the day. In the end, I do not feel the overall activity will be much slower. As a result, I think growers should go ahead and spray now as opposed to waiting. Who knows what will happen next week? Some could get busy planting soybeans and/or cotton or the weather may not be as good as this week resulting in trying to contol bigger weeds later. Then we are fairly well assured of getting poor control.
