Corn prices are mixed while soybeans, cotton and wheat prices are down for the week. The September U.S. Dollar Index before the close was 82.77 down 0.80 for the week. Prices and comments are through Thursday, July 19, 2012. Corn, soybean, and wheat prices are an up while cotton is slightly down for the week through Thursday.  Prices today reached record levels in corn and soybeans. The September U.S. Dollar Index closed at 82.98, down 0.49 for the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 12,943, up 166 points since last Friday. Crude Oil closed at 92.66 a barrel, up 5.56 a barrel for the week. It should be noted that the September 2013 corn, November 2013 soybeans, and July 2013 wheat are all down for the week. Corn, cotton, soybean, and wheat prices are all up for the week. The September U.S. Dollar Index traded before the close at 83.47, down 0.09 for the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average at mid-day traded at 12,745, up 171 points today but down 27 points since last Friday. Crude Oil traded at 87.30 a barrel mid-day, up 2.85 a barrel for the week. USDA released their supply & demand report on July 11 and made several adjustments to the monthly numbers. Continue reading

 Corn, cotton, soybean, and wheat prices are up for the week. The September U.S. Dollar Index traded before the close at 81.77, down 1.24 today and 0.67 for the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average before the close traded at 12,835, up 232 points today and 172 points since last Friday. Crude Oil traded at 83.89 a barrel mid-day, up 6.20 today and up 4.13 a barrel for the week. Today’s USDA Acreage and Grain Stocks report did not contain any major surprises and the market should soon turn if it has not already back to trading the weather and news on the European bailout on banks and their financial condition. The September U.S. Dollar Index closed Thursday at 82.49, up 0.52 for the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 12,574, down 251 points today and 193 points since last Friday. Cotton prices are up while corn, soybean, and wheat prices are down for the week. The June U.S. Dollar Index before the close was at 81.59, down 0.97 for the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded before the close at 12,759, up 205 points since last Friday. Crude Oil before the close traded at 83.99 a barrel, down 0.35 a barrel for the week. Although USDA released their monthly report June 12, most of this week’s market focus has been on weather forecasts, the European financial situation and whether the Federal Reserve will take action in the coming week or weeks to stimulate the economy.
