  1. A growing season like the one we are having in 2014 highlights the need for close management of irrigation. If a producer can achieve yields normally attained only with regular irrigation by watering in a more judicious manner using tools like MOIST or Watermark sensors he may be able to cut the $88/acre cost and thus improve his chance for a higher net income. If we are entering a time of low commodity prices, close management of irrigation costs will become increasingly important.
