Additional Cuts for UT Extension?

Many of you have heard about the budget reductions that were passed by the House of Representatives last week. The Smith-Lever cuts, if approved by the Senate and signed by the President, would reduce the UT Extension budget by more than $830,000.

In light of the state reductions we have taken since 2008, this poses another significant challenge to our organization. UT Extension has just implemented reductions that total $5.4 million since 2009. The proposed additional cut in federal funds, coming mid-way through the current fiscal year, will seriously threaten agricultural and 4-H programs in Tennessee and nationwide.

If you as stakeholders want to add your support to UT Extension programs consider contacting your congressional delegate using the links below.  You may contact you local Extension office if you need additional information.
